The Faerie Queen is a dazzling and enchanting 75-minute television adaptation of John Alleyne’s sensuous, erotic, full-length narrative ballet based on A Midsummer Night’s Dream, performed by Ballet B.C.’s 14 dancers to Michael Bushnell and Owen Underhill’s adaptation of Purcell’s 17th century score.
A magical, otherworldly fairyland deep in B.C’s cathedral forests is where the story unfolds with love triangles, jealousies, and parental stubborn pride. It ends with Puck’s bittersweet soliloquy on the power and mystery of Love.
